Commissioning a Portrait: 5 Steps
An ideal photo has detail and good lighting. Many great photographs do not make for great reference for a painting or a drawing.
Sending a few other photos of different angles is helpful for me to get an idea of likeness and the specific features.

If you do not feel your photos are up to par, I am able to photograph your pet in their environment for a small fee for Calgary and area.
2. Choose size
Once we have agreed on a photo, you can pick a size, I will then send you a draft with basic compositions and coloured background.

This is also an opportunity for you to express what makes your pet unique. And if you have any preferences for other colours, etc.

Consider if you prefer to hang it unframed or framed as I am able to paint on thick panel that can be hung without a frame.
3. Pay deposit
Once size, composition, and any other details have been decided on, I'll send you an invoice for 50% deposit (not including shipping).

Once you have paid the deposit, I will add you to my project list. Exciting!! I'll let you know when I'll be beginning so that you'll know when you can expect an update.
4. Receive updates
You will be sent a progress image and a final image. This is an opportunity to discuss things that are especially important to include so that I can capture your pet's individual features and beloved personality.
5. Finished!
When dry, I will varnish (gloss, semi-gloss, or matte), package, and ship your portrait! If you live in Calgary we can coordinate a delivery.

Shipping estimated by enquiry.
